Nirvana Trust was launched by Mrs. Vinodini Samani (aka Vinu masi!) in 1994 after the sudden death of her husband Pravinbhai Samani.

The couple had already settled in Pondicherry in South India and it was a dream of Pravinbhai to open a school for the poor children near their newly built home.

The couple had initially began tutoring children in front of their house in 1993.

Nirvana School was formally opened in December 1995 by Mrs Samani. With the support of people all over the world, she has been able to provide a valuable education to a school currently holding 350 children. Classes are taught from KG to Standard 7.

For the last 10 years, Mrs Samani has been running Nirvana School, and fulfilling the vision of her late husband.

She runs the school on a purely voluntary basis, and does not take a salary or any other payment for her efforts.
